Article: Silicon Valley comes for our data – All of it!
Social media and digital technology in general is turning our society into dystopia. Companies like amazon demand ever more data, and they are already moving out of the digital sphere into the real world. Amazon’s ECHO speaker is basically directly out of George Orwell’s famous novel ‘1984’.
A couple of decades ago, letting a company read your mail and observe your social interactions and track your location would strike many, if not most, as a breach of privacy. Today, these are standard, even banal, aspects of using the internet. It’s worth considering what further concessions will come to feel normal in the next 20 years, as Silicon Valley is forced to dig deeper into our lives for data.
While the author concludes that the only solution is political, it is clear to us that the only solution can be the refusal of technology. Corporations like Google or Facebook already have enough political power through advertising, lobbying and mass opinion steering – no government really can do anything against that.

Good. We here at Feun Foo find advertising to be rather intruding and annoying. Whether you enabled Adblock or not, our page will look just the same, since we wouldn't dare bothering you with ads anyway.
